The
13th edition of the CIVITAS Forum Conference took place between 7th and 9th October 2015 in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the European Green Capital 2016.

An Expert Community “Sharing the City”

The theme of the Conference was “Sharing the city” with a focus on sustainable urban mobility as an important driver to build an accessible and liveable city for all, as well as to constantly improve the quality of urban life. The discussions and exchanges of experience on how best sharing the physical and social space of the city will significantly contribute to further define and implement innovative, smart and sustainable mobility solutions in European cities and beyond.
More than 500 representatives of local authorities, transport societies, experts of the sector, ONG, etc. attended the 25 sessions organized during the conference (See final programme)
Many high-level authorities attended the plenary sessions and three European commissioners closed the CIVITAS Forum. Mrs Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport, congratulated the CIVITAS community and highlighted the importance of exporting ideas and experiences developed in the CIVITAS projects in the five continents. This is how CODATU wishes to contribute to the CIVITAS community.

Sustainable urban mobility experiences beyond Europe

As part of a session on The experiences of sustainable mobility beyond the borders of Europe,” Lorenza Tomasoni presented a matter of deep reflection within the network CODATU: the future of paratransit.
The parallel between shared mobility (car-sharing, car-pooling, uber-like systems, …) and paratransit was strongly debated with the audience and many people showed a great interest to deepen the question. Shared mobility was also the main theme of the keynote speaker of the closing plenary, Ali Clabburn, Founder and Managing Director of Liftshare.
