For Paper For Joint Special Session: Disaster Resilience in Transport
The 11th EASTS Conference in Cebu, Philippines, September 11-14, 2015

Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) and World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS) will jointly organize a Special Session entitled “Disaster Resilience in Transport” at the 11th EASTS Conference in Cebu, the Philippines on September 2015. The topic includes but are not limited to:

  • Relationship between transport and land use for disaster resilience
  • Process of disasters’ influences on transport
  • Transport planning considering disaster issue
  • Transport policy to prevent or adapt disasters
  • Transport network analysis and recovery in disasters
  • Transport safety in natural disaster emergencies
  • Cost and benefit analysis of resilient transport infrastructure and devices
  • Micro mechanism of different abnormal weather’s influence on transport
  • Traffic flow characteristics in disasters
  • Human travel, drive and response behavior in disasters
  • Technology innovation in evaluation system of transport performance before, during and after disasters
  • Technology innovation for resilient transport infrastructure and devices
  • Intelligent transport system for disaster resilience
  • Disaster resilience analysis using big data

We welcome all of you to submit your papers actively to the following secretary. The submitted papers will
not be reviewed as journals of EASTS. But The Special Interest Group (SIG) on “Disaster Resilience in
Transport” of WCTRS is now planning to publish them in the different journal after the joint special
session in cooperation with the International Scientific Committee (ISC) of EASTS. The other issues are
the same as the call for paper of EASTS.

Supposed journals for special issue:
The chairs of the special session are supposing to edit a special issue in “Transport Policy” or “Case
Studies on Transport Policy”, collecting presented papers there.

The Special Interest Group (SIG) on “Disaster Resilience in Transport” of WCTRS serves as a forum
facilitating discussion, communication and various activities related to transport system resilience in
disasters. The primary objective of the SIG is to promote research about transport in disasters to improve
transport system disaster prevention and mitigation ability via international workshops, group meetings etc.

EASTS
was founded in November 1994 as a result of the meeting among the transport experts coming from 13 countries/regions in eastern Asia. The significant meeting of experts happened in Kawana in Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan.

This is an umbrella organization of transportation science societies with the primary objectives of fostering and supporting excellence in transportation research and practice and to stimulate professional interchange in all aspects and modes of transportation.

The member domestic societies are in Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and New Zealand.
