At
the twenty-first Conference of the Parties (COP21) that will be held in Paris in December 2015, the negotiations should establish a new international agreement to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. Eighteen years after the signature of Kyoto Protocol, this new agreement should bring a binding framework -entering into force by 2020- to fight against climate change.
On September the 23rd, 2014, the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, is organizing an international summit that aims to prepare the discussions that will take place in November 2014 during the COP20 in Lima. It is in this context that this symposium, organized by CODATU and its partners takes all it sense. In fact it aims to remind the role that can be played by urban transport in developed countries as in developing countries on mitigating climate change, to review the advancement of the negotiations and take into consideration their impact on urban transport sector, and to mobilize the transport stakeholders in France for them to get the fight against global warming as an opportunity to innovate and improve mobility-offering especially in urban areas.
